Practical public speaking tips you’ll learn

I have delivered dozens of public speaking courses to 100s of people. One thing most of them have in common... they really don't like public speaking! Coming into the course, they may be nervous, stressed and wish to be anywhere but here!

I understand this, and so this presentation skills course is simple, low stress, relaxed and fun. We will focus on effective communication, not arm waving and jazz hands (I'll be doing both by the way).

You will take away practical, actionable skills and techniques to make your message clearer, more focused and powerful.

Here's what we cover in the course:

  • Public speaking vs speaking in public - What's the difference and why it's important.
  • Understanding your audience - The what, how and why of your audience.
  • Generating ideas - Creating a content storm.
  • Building credibility - Understanding the golden triangle of public speaking.
  • Prioritising content - What content will tick your audience's boxes.
  • How the voice works - Vocal physiology and how it helps you present.
  • Managing nerves - How to fight the butterflies
  • How to avoid death by PowerPoint - Making slides impactful.
  • Building a timeline - Building content into a sensible structure.
  • Delivery skills - How pace, pitch, volume and body language help delivery.

Your 3-minute presentation: safe, constructive feedback

At the end of the workshop, you’ll deliver a short, 3-minute talk on a topic of your choice (work, hobby, or personal story).

You will receive personalised feedback highlighting your strengths and practical next steps—all in a constructive, supportive way.

“Michael brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise and genuine passion for teaching. His ability to break down complex topics into practical, real-world skills makes him one of the most impactful trainers we’ve worked with.”
